Speech Pathology Fees and Rebates
At The Keys to Speech, we understand that enquiries regarding assessment fees can be stressful, so we strive to be upfront and transparent about our consulting fees and what they include. Our aim is to always offer high-quality speech pathology services with no hidden extras while ensuring we comply with all government-funded service requirements, including NDIS funding. Our prices align with the NDIS pricing guide, and we also offer information on Medicare rebates and private health insurance options. Please enquire for further details.
Consulting fees include
Planning and preparation for your individually tailored session involves various assessment fees that may apply. This includes the preparation of specialised resources and activities for home practice, as well as liaising with other approved health and education professionals. Comprehensive written session notes will be provided, along with any other administrative costs such as consulting fees, which cover phone discussions, Medicare rebates, NDIS funding correspondence, additional requested documentation, and travel. If you have private health insurance, some of these costs may also be claimable.
Assessment fees include
Planning and preparation for your assessment session involves understanding the associated assessment fees and how they may be covered by Medicare rebates, NDIS funding, or private health insurance. During the assessment sessions, we will provide a comprehensive written report detailing our findings. Following this, a feedback consultation will allow us to discuss the conclusions and outline the way forward regarding your speech pathology needs.
Funding Options
Medicare rebates
We accept chronic disease management (CDM) plans and are regularly part of team care arrangements. These plans, initiated by a GP, provide clients with access to up to 5 Medicare rebated sessions for services such as speech pathology. If you're concerned about assessment fees or consulting fees, know that these sessions can significantly reduce your out-of-pocket expenses. To determine if your child is eligible for Medicare rebates on speech pathology services, please consult your GP or visit the Department of Health and Aged Care | Chronic Disease Management Patient Information. Additionally, if you have private health insurance or are exploring NDIS funding options, these may also help cover costs.
NDIS
Individuals with developmental delays or disabilities may be eligible for NDIS funding through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This funding can cover costs associated with registered allied health services, including speech pathology. Furthermore, the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach is accessible to all children under 9 with a developmental delay or disability.
The Keys to Speech works with NDIS funded clients who are either self-managed or plan managed. We are unable to accept clients who are NDIA-managed at this time. Please note that while we strive to offer comprehensive services, assessment fees and consulting fees may apply, and some clients may also explore options for Medicare rebates or private health insurance coverage.
Private Health
Private health insurance rebates are available with extras cover from some health funds, which may help with assessment fees for speech pathology services. If you have private health cover, including extras, it's a good idea to contact your health fund to inquire about their rebates for speech pathology. The amounts of these Medicare rebates can vary significantly between funds and may increase once you exceed the Medicare threshold.
We are pleased to provide invoices that allow clients to access claims for eligible private health insurance funds. If you wish to use NDIS funding or claim back consulting fees from your health fund, please inform your clinician when booking your appointment.
